I am originally from Brazil and I have a PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Belo Horizonte, Brazil). My research focuses on understanding how the neural control of breathing is altered in neurological diseases. I am particularly interested in exploring physiological processes as an integrated system, investigating the role of sensory inputs and reflex mechanisms in maintaining respiratory function.
