Riyi Shi, Prof.

Mari Hulman George Endowed Professor Of Applied Neuroscience

Dr. Riyi Shi is the Mari Hulman George Endowed Professor of Applied Neuroscience at Purdue University and Director of the Purdue Center for Paralysis Research. A physician-scientist with over 25 years of research experience, he holds an MD from Jiao-Tong University, a PhD from Purdue, and completed postdoctoral training at UNC. His work focuses on central nervous system trauma and disease, with key contributions including PEG-based neuronal repair, identification of acrolein as a pathological factor, and novel injury models. He has helped advance multiple therapies to clinical trials, including the FDA-approved drug Fampridine, and holds 13 patents.
