Dr. C. Edward Dixon, Professor of Neurological Surgery, Director of the University of Pittsburgh Brain Trauma Research Center and a Health Research Scientist at the Pittsburgh VAHS. He has over 35 years of experience in the study of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and have contributed significantly to the evolution of animal models of TBI. Dr. Dixon is a member of the Steering Committee for PRE Clinical Interagency reSearch resourcE-TBI (PRECISE-TBI) as a member of the multi-PI team of investigators. As part of the PRECISE-TBI, he directs the Preclinical Model Catalogue Core. He has published extensively on mechanisms of posttraumatic cognitive deficits with a focus on the role of neurotransmission mechanisms of TBI.
