Dr. Wan Lin Chen is a neurosurgeon and surgical intensivist at Shuang Ho Hospital and Assistant Professor at the Graduate Institute of Injury Prevention and Control, Taipei Medical University. Of Atayal indigenous heritage, she was raised in Tai-An Township, Miaoli County — an upbringing that shaped her lifelong commitment to resilience, independence, and health equity.
She earned her M.D. from National Taiwan University in 2000, completed neurosurgical residency in 2006, and was certified by the Taiwan Board of Neurosurgery that same year. Driven to broaden her impact beyond the operating room, she joined International SOS, rising to Medical Director for the Greater China Region, where she led Taipei's medical transport center to international recognition for excellence. She subsequently completed her PhD at the School of Public Health, Taipei Medical University in 2018.
Her research bridges critical care, traumatic injury epidemiology, and emergency aeromedical services — with a particular focus on the complex management of polytrauma patients in the surgical ICU. She also serves as Executive Director of the Medical Association for Indigenous People of Taiwan, advocating for health equity in underserved communities.
Her work consistently reflects a rare integration of neurosurgical precision, systems-level thinking, and frontline critical care experience.
