Emeritus Professor at University of Wisconsin-Madison, Detling Chair of Neurology (1995-2016), and Director of the Center for Neuroscience (2001-2011). Tom has served as President of the American Epilepsy Society (2002) and the American Society for Experimental Neural Therapeutics (2018-2023). His career activities include clinical epilepsy and neurology, and basic studies focusing on the role of activity-dependent and lesion-induced plasticity in brain circuits on epilepsy. He has published extensively and holds multiple patents for novel therapeutics.
