Profoessor And Vice Chair Research

Dr. Cheryl Wellington is Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Djavad Mowafaghian Center for Brain Health, The University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Wellington’s major research interests include Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Dr. Wellington founded the UBC Core Facility for Neurology Biomarker Innovation, which focuses on development and validation of blood tests for a wide variety of neurological conditions. Dr. Wellington holds multiple leadership and executive positions in the dementia and neurotrauma communities, including the Canadian Consortium for Neurodegeneration in Aging, Cure Alzheimer Fund, the Canadian Traumatic Brain Injury Research Consortium, the Canadian Concussion Network, and the International Initiative on Traumatic Brain Injury Research.
